About
Camillia Zedan is currently a Postgraduate Research Student (PhD) specialising in Complexity Economics at the Institute for Complex Systems Simulation, University of Southampton. She obtained a Masters of Engineering in Computing from Imperial College, London in 2009. She has also had experience of working in a City investment bank during a six-month industrial placement at UBS in 2008.
Her work is focussed on the economics of the financial markets with major firm case studies including the London Stock Exchange (LSE). It investigates market interdependencies and dynamic interactions within the financial markets using theories and techniques from agent-based computational economics, behavioural finance, complexity science, game theory and other topics.
Her work will help to develop a deeper understanding of how the financial markets operate, simulate how they might respond to regulatory changes and identify key conditions to promote long-term efficiency and stability.
Her work is funded by the EPSRC.
Camillia Zedan also acts as a programming demonstrator for undergraduate computer science students. She assists with the core concepts of object-oriented programming (OOP), languages such as Java and C, and graphical interfacing techniques.
She is also a member of the Computational Modelling Group (CMG) and Science and Engineering of Natural Systems Group (SENSe) within the university.
