My MA thesis focuses on the Kindertransport, the scheme implemented by the British government 1938-1939, which resuced nearly 10,000 Jewish and other children from persecuted groups within Nazi Germany.
Stemming from my interest in identity, the project aims to explore issues relating to identity - how did the Kinder identity themselves when they arrived in England, by their national or religious identity? How did their experiences in England change this? How do they see themselves now? Many other questions will also be explored, including, for example, would the Kinder describe themselves as "Holocaust survivors", a categorisation which some find problematic.
