About

Elizabeth is a Research Fellow in the Cancer, Palliative and End of Life Research Group in the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southampton.  She is currently working on a study seeking to better understand the emergence and impact of transitions between different care settings for older people at the end of life.  The study is led from the University of Liverpool and is funded by the NIHR Service Delivery and Organisation programme.

Elizabeth studied Sociology and Social Policy at the University of York, where she developed interests in health, illness and gender.  She completed her PhD at the University of Surrey in 2009, taking a mixed methods approach which drew upon sociological and chronobiological perspectives to look at experiences of night work as part of everyday family lives of female nurses, their partners and children.

Elizabeth has experience of working with volunteers in a variety of roles, and has also worked in the third sector on projects concerned with emotional health, self-harm and suicide.
